Help
How loops work, what your yes means, and how to take anything back.
What a loop is
A loop is one thing that needs doing: #groceries, #visa, #gym, #london-trip. It can be just yours, or shared with the people it involves.
Each loop has its own runner. It plans the loop, does the parts it can inside the rules you set, asks you for the rest, and keeps a receipt of everything. In your own loops the runner is your hashloop; in a shared loop it's the loop's own.
There is no feed, no inbox of strangers and no chat outside a loop. What you see is the loops you started or were invited into, and nothing else.
Rules and your yes
Every loop has rules: how much it may do on its own. You choose one of three, and can change it any time.
- Ask me every time
- Nothing happens until you tap yes.
- Within limits
- It acts on its own inside these, and asks past them.
- On its own
- For loops where nothing it does costs money or reaches anyone.
It always asks before sending anything or spending past a limit.
In a shared loop, each of you says yes only for yourself: the runner asks the person whose calendar, money or name it would use.
Undo
Most actions can be taken back for fifteen minutes from their receipt. Reminders and Calendar holds come off your phone too.
Receipts
When your hashloop does something, it leaves a receipt in the loop: what it did, and the rule it ran under. Sends and spends past a limit always ask first.
A receipt says what happened in the past tense, and the rule it ran under: "On its own · nothing sent", "Within limits · £12 of £30 this week", "Maya said yes · 14:02". You can share one as a card.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to You, then Delete account. It asks you to type DELETE, and for Face ID if you haven't just signed in.
Deleting a loop deletes its messages, its data and its key, for everyone in it. Deleting your account deletes the loops only you are in and takes you out of the shared ones, where what you did stays as someone who left. Your sessions end at once, and it's all gone within a day. Nothing is kept afterwards.
To keep something first, export it: any loop, or everything at once, from You.
